Checkers (sometimes called “Draughts” in England) is a strategic board game where players move their pieces diagonally in a series of moves and do their best to capture all of their opponent’s pieces.

If you can get one of your pieces to the opposite sides of the board then you can “King” or “Crown” them and they become much more powerful and versatile. King pieces have the ability to go farther than one square diagonally, and are therefore much more valuable. Because of this, a predominant strategy in checkers is where players focus more on getting their pieces to the opposite side of the board than focus on what their opponent is doing.
